Entitled Taj Mahal Perfection. It is an image that has been called the Best Color Transparency Photograph of the Taj Mahal of all time. Along with the actual physical slide as seen in the photographs above, there will be inlcuded, if you wish, at no extra cost, a very high resolution digital scan of the image in jpg or tiff format on memory disk sent with the slide itself. This digital image is the result of scanning the original 70mm square Ektachrome color transparency (1982 slide) at high resolution with an Epson Perfection V700 in 2019. This version is much lower resolution due to upload rules. One of the photographs above shows the best that can be shown in terms of resolution of the original image. It has been printed from a 9600 dpi scan at 50 x 50 inches with no loss in quality. Newer scanning devices could afford the new owner even more possiblities. There are no scratches, water spots, or other blemishes of any kind on its surfaces. The photographer, Ron Sterling, spent only one day from sunrise to sunset in October 1982 in and around the Taj Mahal and the Red Fort in Agra, India. On more than one occasion he has said that at the moment at which he clicked the camera shutter extension release for this photograph, that there was a pure stillness and transcendent delight. Not a whisper of wind disturbed the surface of the pond. Only a few happy voices could be heard in the background. And, the color that local visitors brought to the scene was perfect. The camera was a Hasselblad 500 C/M, 80 mm Zeiss Planar lens. 1/100, f11, cable shutter release. Scanned transparency with Epson Perfection 700 at 9600 dpi. 50% of the proceeds of this sale are being contributed to a cause for assisting India residents with Covid-care resources. I have been so thankful to India for the wonder and spirit it instilled in me from even just a short visit to it in 1982. Ramlila in Agra was also being performed and, believe it or not, the local police made sure we could view it without being assaulted. Two white folks, for some reason, caused a commotion at that performance. Our taxi driver was a highly-educated graduate of Cornell and took it upon himself to introduce us to his family, his cow, and some of his neighbors that night. Thank you for viewing.
